Q. Where is Safer Parking?

A. The Safer Parking Car Park is located at 48 Caswell Road in the industrial area of Te Anau

Our offices (for proximity tag pick-up) are located at 84 Lakefront Drive, as we share a home with Fiordland Jet.

Q. Do we have to book in advance?

A. To secure a spot we suggest you book in advance online, as parking space is issued on a first come first served basis. Please fill in the booking form on the website to secure your spot.

Q. What if I have to cancel? Does Safer Parking provide refunds?

A. Refunds will only be given if the request is made 7 days prior to the booking date. All refunds will be less a processing fee (approx. 3%). There will be no refunds for cancelletions within 7 days - even if tracks or tours are cancelled due to weather. 

Q. How do we get entry to Safer Parking?

A. Proximity tags must be obtained prior to arrival at the car park and are available from our main office - Fiordland Jet - at 84 Lakefront Drive

 If you have not booked online, you may pick-up/pay for your proximity tag from any of our agents' locations, found on our Rates page.

Q. What if we need to pick up our proximity tag very early/late?

Our office hours can vary, so please check Google. You may pick up your access tag the day prior to your booking date at no additional cost.

 If you will be unable to pick up your proximity tag during Fiordland Jet opening hours, please let us know immediately so we can arrange an alternative. 

Q. Where do we pay?

A. You pay online via the secure booking form using your credit card details.

If you do not book online, you can pay directly at Fiordland Jet or to one of our agents. 

Q. Who are our agents?

A. On site payment and access tags are also available at:

Tracknet, Real Journeys, Go Orange, Caltex Garage and Shakespeare House B&B

Q. Does Safer Parking provide transportation?

A. No, Safer Parking does not provide transportation. Contact your excursion provider directly to arrange pick-up/drop-off from Safer Parking.

Q. How do we get transportation to/from Safer Parking? 

A. Most companies (Real Journeys, Go Orange, Adventure Fiordland, etc.) include transport to/from Safer Parking as part of their excursions. Please check directly with your excursion provider.

Q. What if I've already booked with Tracknet?

A. Tracknet will stop at Safer Parking as part of its normal Te Anau route. Please drop all baggage and other passengers at DOC Visitor Centre and then have only the driver of the vehicle head to Safer Parking to be picked up curbside. 

Q. How far is Safer Parking from the Department of Conservation?

A. Easy walking distance at just 2.5 km

Q. How far is Safer Parking from the Town Centre?

A. Easy walking distance at just 2 km

Q. How far is Safer Parking from the walking tracks?

A. The Kepler Track: carpark is just an 8-minute drive (approx. 7km).

    The Milford Track: accessed by boat from Te Anau Downs, which is a 20-minute drive

    The Routeburn Track: 1 hour drive

    The Hollyford Track: 2.5 hour drive (approx) 

Getting to and from Safer Parking is a breeze, as all transport providers offer a pickup and drop off service.

Q. What if I’m renting a vehicle?

A. We happily accept rental vehicles. With rental cars we strongly urge you to add the number plate, make and model to your Booking Form and include that it’s a rental in the additional notes.

Q. How do I use my AccessTag?

 A. The Car Park is fully automated. Swipe your access tag to enter/exit through the main gate - Remember to take your access tag with you. After you’ve finished your time with Safer Parking, open the gate to exit with your vehicle and then drop your access tag into the slot below. It’s that easy and instructions are posted just in case. 

Q. Can Safer Parking provide long-term parking in Te Anau?

A. Yes. Contact Safer Parking with your specific requirements and we will give you a quote.

Q. Can we leave baggage and other items in our car?

A. That is always up to your discretion. We are an incredibly safe parking provider, with alarmed, electric fencing & security lighting. 

Q. Are toilets available at Safer Parking?

A. Yes (Please be courteous)
